The Loccum monastery also received the right of patronage to the church in Oedelum, which has since been looked after by external clergy. In 1542 there were 150 inhabitants in Oedelum. Lutheran teaching was introduced in 1593. In 1810 Oedelum consisted of 63 houses in which 445 people lived. In 1931 they began to drill for oil in the area of the place. Above the entrance of the Ev.-luth. The year 1747 can be read in the Oedelum Church, although it is not known whether it refers to the beginning or the end of renovation work. An expert report by a master mason from Hildesheim commissioned by the Loccum monastery in 1742 had shown that the church was in poor condition. The apse and choir were renewed in 1774. After another renovation in 1868, the church received a new organ in 1870, built by the organ builder Heinrich Schaper from Hildesheim. Today it is a listed building. The church tower in its current form was built in 1927. Inside the church, in addition to the organ, the pulpit is particularly noteworthy, part of which comes from an older pulpit from the Renaissance period around 1600. Among the colorful wood carvings, an angel with a hat and a Moses with two horns are particularly noteworthy. The ceiling paintings in the church are from the end of the 18th century.
