Hermann Westermann (politician)

Hermann Westermann (born May 5, 1869 in Oedelum , † July 20, 1959 in Hildesheim ) was a German farmer and politician .

Life

In 1909 Westermann, who was of Protestant faith, acquired the Siems estate near Sichau in the Altmark , a former Vorwerk of the Weteritz estate , and advocated a course of settlement that other landowners acknowledged with incomprehension , including his (few) later speeches in the German Reichstag To give evidence.

From 1919 to 1921 Westermann was initially a member of the Prussian state assembly and then until 1924 a member of the state parliament in Prussia for the DDP . From 1924 to 1928 he was a member of the Reichstag for constituency 10 (Magdeburg) for the DVP and also held a number of municipal offices which he had to resign after 1933 under pressure from the National Socialists.

In 1945 Westermann and his family were expropriated and fled to the West, where he helped establish the local CDU . He died at the age of 90 in Hildesheim .
