history

Location of the Palatinate Dahlum today under grassland with uneven soil forms

Königsdahlum was first mentioned in a document in 936 as Pfalz Dahlum . It is quite certain that the establishment of the Königspfalz was not a Saxon foundation, but that the complex goes back to a Franconian foundation. Emperor Otto the Great stayed in the Palatinate several times during the 10th century. The Palatinate was on a royal road. In 1192 it was destroyed by Henry the Lion . The dismantling of the destroyed castle was mainly done by the city of Bockenem for the construction of the city wall.

A stop was set up in Königsdalum on the Derneburg – Seesen railway , which was completed in 1887 to Bockenem and 1889 to Seesen . The line was closed in 1990 for passenger and in 1995 partly also for goods traffic. It is only occasionally used by a museum railway, which also stops in Königsdalum, and occasionally for the transport of goods.

As part of the municipal and territorial reform, the Königsdahlum was merged with 17 other municipalities to form the city of Bockenem on March 1, 1974.
