history

"Greetings from Volkersheim";
lithographed Mehrbildkarte no. 714 of Willy Hoehl to 1898

The first documentary mentions come from the 12th century in connection with the foundation of the Backenrode monastery . In the 13th century, the houses of Cramm , Woldenberg and Wallmoden , the Diocese of Hildesheim and the Michaeliskloster , in the 15th century Wilhelm the Elder and in the 16th century the dukes of Grubenhagen had ownership or fief rights in the place . Ultimately, however, the Cramm house shaped the place by establishing manors in the 17th century. The Volkersheim volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1926. The former community, which belonged to the Gandersheim district , was incorporated into Bockenem on March 1, 1974.
