The Geestemünde district was a district in the Prussian province of Hanover . The administrative seat was the city of Geestemünde , which is now a district of Bremerhaven .

history

District office from 1888 - today tax office Wesermünde-Land

The circle was in 1885 from the Office Hagen and the south of Geeste altitude area of the office Lehe formed. The administrative seat was in the rural community of Geestemünde , which merged with the neighboring town of Geestendorf in 1889 . In 1913 Geestemünde received city rights, at the same time became a district and thus left the district. The Geestemünde district has been called Geestemünde district since then . Wulsdorf (1920 to Geestemünde) and part of Schiffdorf (1927 to Wesermünde ) with Schiffdorferdamm were also spun off later . In addition, community mergers led to a reduction in the number of communities. Examples of this are the incorporation of Welle to Lanhausen or from Wachholz to Beverstedt in 1929.

In 1932, the Geestemünde and Lehe districts were dissolved by an ordinance of the Prussian State Ministry and merged into the Wesermünde district .
