history

The place name Lehnstedt literally means "village on the hills".

Lehnstedt was first mentioned in 1105 by Archbishop Friedrich in a written document, at that time still as Hlidenstede . Around the year 1400 Lehnstedt burned down to the foundation walls and was rebuilt at a different - present - location. In 1537 Gut Neuenhausen was first mentioned in a document. In 1809, the last lord of the Neuenhausen castle, von Wersebe, planned an uprising against Napoléon Bonaparte . In 1902 Lehnstedt founded the volunteer fire brigade together with Neuenhausen. Lehnstedt received electricity in 1920. In 1957 a drilling rig was used to drill for oil in the Lehnstedter Moor. Today the then named reminds Bohrturmstraße this event. Lehnstedt was not given street names until 1975, before all houses were numbered consecutively. Two years later, Lehnstedt got a connection to the motorway through the construction of the federal motorway 27. There were big anniversary celebrations in 2002 for the centenary of the volunteer fire brigade and in 2005 for the celebration of “900 years of Lehnstedt”.

Incorporations

On August 1, 1929, the formerly independent community of Neuenhausen was incorporated into the community of Lehnstedt.

In the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , which took place on March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Lehnstedt was incorporated into the municipality of Wulsbüttel and, when it was dissolved on January 1, 2014, it became part of the unified municipality of Hagen in Bremen.
