Wersabe ( Low German Weersbe ) is a district of the unitary community of Hagen in Bremen in the Lower Saxony district of Cuxhaven .
geography
The village in the Osterstader Marsch on the dike of the Unterweser is opposite the Harriersand river island and the city of Brake . The neighboring towns are Offenwarden in the north and Rechtebe in the south.
history
The first written mention as "Wirsebe" can be traced back to the year 1110. The place was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Wersebe / Wersabe , who later also donated the St. Marien Church. Rechtebe and Wurthfleth have also belonged to the parish for centuries . In the 18th and 19th centuries the church village belonged to the Hagen district . During the French era , the municipality of Wersabe in the canton of Dammhagen ( Département der Wesermündungen ) was formed, which also included Offenwarden, Rechtebe, Rechtenfleth , Sandstedt, Uthlede and Wurthfleth and was dissolved again after the victory over Napoleon. In 1840 Wersabe received the status of a rural community. In 1876 the district of the same name was formed.
Wersabe had a primary school with a first and second grade until 2008. Today the building houses a day care center.
Incorporations
Political independence ended in 1968, when Wersabe merged with other municipalities to form the new municipality of Sandstedt, which in turn became a member municipality of the integrated municipality of Hagen in 1974. On January 1, 2014, the joint community of Hagen and its member communities were dissolved and the community of Hagen in Bremen was reorganized.

Blazon : "Under a blue shield head coveredwith three silver lilies, split by silver and black ." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The shield, split by silver and black, is borrowed from the coat of arms of the noble family von Wersebe , whose ancestral seat was in Wersabe and which was donated by the local church. The lilies are symbols of the Virgin Mary , the patron saint of the Church. |
