history

Fire disasters in 1869/1883

On September 5, 1869, there was a major fire in Kassebruch, in which 30 residential houses and as many outbuildings were destroyed. Since the place itself did not have a fire engine, the fire brigades of the neighboring villages helped to bring the fire under control. However, given the prevailing extent of the fire, they were powerless at the time.

The place received its own fire engine only in 1884, after there had been another large fire in 1883. The Kassebruch volunteer fire brigade was not founded until 1902. Previously, the farms had to turn off capable men to fire extinguishers. Some of the older, rebuilt houses still have logos over the doors that refer to the major fire of 1869. In 2019, a memorial plaque was installed at the site of the accident - today the communal cold store is here - to commemorate what happened.

Incorporations

In the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , which took place on March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Kassebruch was incorporated into the then integrated municipality of Hagen .

On January 1, 2014, the joint community of Hagen and its member communities were dissolved and the new community of Hagen in Bremen was established.

coat of arms

The design of the municipal coat of arms of Kassebruch comes from the heraldist and coat of arms painter Albert de Badrihaye , who designed around 80 coats of arms in the district of Cuxhaven.

Coat of arms of Kassebruch
Blazon : "In a shield split in silver and black , a mill wheel above a wave bar , both in exchanged colors."
Justification of the coat of arms: The colors of the coat of arms are borrowed from those of the noble family "von Wersebe" , who have been based in Kassebruch since the Middle Ages. The mill wheel is reminiscent of the old water mill, the wave beam of the Drepte .
