Wollingst in the municipality of Beverstedt
|
Wollingst ( Low German Wolljes ) is a village in the unified municipality of Beverstedt in the Lower Saxony district of Cuxhaven .
geography
The village is on the state road 128 between the villages of Getesteth and Beverstedt. The nature reserve Wollingster See and Randmoore is located southeast of the village .
history
Wollingst had a close relationship with Beverstedt as early as the 17th century; it used to belong to the Beverstedt Börde and to the aristocratic court in Beverstedt. During the French period around 1810, the place was administered by the municipality of Beverstedt. Wollingst was in the office of Beverstedt from 1822 to 1859 and became a rural community in the Kingdom of Hanover in 1840 . Later a membership in the Amt Lehe (1859–1885), district Geestemünde (1885–1932), district Wesermünde (1932–1977) or district Cuxhaven can be proven. The Wollingst district was established in 1876. The former church lost its independence in 1974 and became a district of the borough Beverstedt in the Samtgemeinde Beverstedt . When the municipality of Beverstedt was reorganized on November 1, 2011, Wollingst became a locality within the meaning of the Lower Saxony Municipal Constitutional Act .

coat of arms
The design of the municipal coat of arms of Wollingst comes from the heraldist and coat of arms painter Albert de Badrihaye , who designed around 80 coats of arms in the Cuxhaven district.
Blazon : "In Blue before an upscale, silver wave bar a golden oak leaves Three with two golden acorns on a stick." | |
Foundation of the coat of arms: The name Wollingst (1197 - Wollingstede) is interpreted as a forest site. The oak tri-leaf with acorns indicates the forest and the wavy bar indicates the small local stream, which is important for the village. |
traffic
Wollingst is connected to the bus network in the southern district of Cuxhaven with a few trips on the VBN line 568. In addition, a collective call taxi offers hourly connections in the direction of Beverstedt and Stubben train station (Beverstedt) . In the future, the planned federal motorway 20 could run just a few kilometers south of the village.
Local life
Today the village has a day care center, a volunteer fire brigade, a sports club , a ferret aid club and a shooting club . In 1927 the Bremerhaven furniture entrepreneur Heini Frey built the Naturfreundehaus . It was demolished in spring 2017. The friends' association last had only 200 members. The area around the house is to be renatured.
