Lunestedt ( Low German Luunst ) is a village in the unified municipality Beverstedt in the Lower Saxony district of Cuxhaven , which emerged in 1968 through a territorial reform from the previously independent communities Freschluneberg (Low German Lunbarg ) and Westerbeverstedt (Low German Westerbeverst ).

geography

location

The place is on the river Lune , a tributary of the Weser , and on the Bremen – Bremerhaven railway line . The station on the line between Bremen and Geestemünde established in 1862 was opened in 1879.

At the intersection of Am Geeren / Breslauer Straße (new name: Zum Waldblick) is the Westerbeverstedter Kessel sink , which geologists are certain to be a remnant of the Ice Age - either a dead ice kettle or a ground ice formation .

The Im Hausbeeken nature reserve is located north of Lunestedt on the north side of the Dohrener Bach .

history

Origin of the place

The community Lunestedt was formed under this name on July 1, 1968 in the course of the regional reform from the previously independent communities Freschluneberg and Westerbeverstedt. The place was first mentioned in 860 together with a number of other places in the region between Ems and Elbe in a record of Archbishop Ansgar about miraculous healings at Willehad's grave . There it is documented what the name Westerbeverstedt is based on: There were beavers in the area. And Westerbeverstedt was the "village of Westristan bever igi seti", the "village of those sitting on the western beaver island". The beaver is a symbol in Lunestedt's coat of arms and as a wooden figure at the main intersection of the village at the Volksbank. Hill and large stone graves testify to much earlier settlement on the Geesteinseln north of the Lune.

Witch Trial 1607

At Gut Altluneberg (district of Wehdel , unitary community Schiffdorf ) documents were found about a witch trial that took place in 1607 in Heyerhöfen (between Beverstedt and Heerstedt ). The village landlady Engel (l) von Grollen from what was then Westerbeverstedt was accused of witchcraft.

"French time"

In the French era , the former places Westerbeverstedt and Freschluneberg belonged as a department of the Elbe and Weser estuaries between March and December 1810 to the Kingdom of Westphalia , then to the department of the Weser estuaries . It was created as one of the three Hanseatic departments on January 1, 1811 as a result of the annexation of the area by France. After the Allied victory over Napoleon I in 1814, the department again became part of the Kingdom of Hanover.

Since 1900

In 1927, today's districts of Freschluneberg and Westerbeverstedt belong to the Geestemünde district, Wesermünde-Geestemünde district court, Freschluneberg post office, and Wesermünde-Land tax office.

Awards

In 2008 the community was the district winner for the district of Cuxhaven in the competition Our village has a future .

Incorporations

In 1971 the municipality of Lunestedt became one of the nine member municipalities of the integrated municipality of Beverstedt .

Since November 1, 2011, the previously independent community of Lunestedt has been part of the unified community of Beverstedt.

coat of arms

The lower two old coats of arms merged in 1968 to form the new Lunestedter coat of arms.

Lunestedt coat of arms
Blazon : "In green over a blue shield base coveredwith a silver wavy bar , a soaring golden beaver , heraldically accompanied on the left by an increasing silver crescent moon ."
Reasons for the coat of arms: The beaver recalls the meaning of the Middle Low German word "bever". The increasing crescent moon indicates the meaning "fresch = new", the blue base of the shield with the silver wave bar indicates the lune .

Old coat of arms

The two old coats of arms of the merged districts of Westerbeverstedt and Freschluneberg come from the heraldist and coat of arms painter Albert de Badrihaye , who designed around 80 municipal coats of arms in the district of Cuxhaven .

Culture and sights

Buildings

Marion Köser had renovated a half-timbered house opposite the school and had been gathering friends of home there since 1976 - the “Lunekring”. After she suddenly died on May 6, 2005, the historical and cultural assets that the “Lunekring” had collected could no longer remain in the Köser house. The house was for sale.

As a successor to the Lunekring, the Dorphuus working group was formed in the Heimatverein of the Beverstedt community . In 2007 he demolished and temporarily stored a half-timbered house in Köhlen . On October 11, 2009, the Dorphuus , built next to the fire brigade and school, was inaugurated. Regular cultural events now take place on the ground floor. The Köser collection is made accessible to the public again on the upper floor. With funds from the Lower Saxony Bingo Foundation for Environment and Development Cooperation and the Kreissparkasse Wesermünde-Land Hadeln, the Natur-Lunekring forum created a Natureum on the subject of “winners and losers in the cultural landscape”.

Architectural monuments

Parks and village green

Lunestedt is a village with a lot of green and new building areas are structured by footpaths and cycle paths. In several places there are trees in the middle of the road. Thirteen field trees were planted in Lunestedts Feldmark more than 15 years ago. More than 60,000 trees have been planted and the landscape has been cared for in the "Environment Day", which is organized annually by the local associations. The otter biotope (former pond sewage treatment plant) on the Lune is maintained by Forum Natur-Lunekring . The group also created a nature trail.

Canoe trips on the Lune

Until the beginning of the 17th century, the Lune was navigable by ships from the mouth up to Beverstedt-Deelbrügge. Today the river is navigable by canoe.

Regular events

Every year, the place celebrates the Easter fire on Reithornsberg, the setting up of the Pentecost tree between the fire brigade and school, on the Sunday after Pentecost the trade day in Heerstedter Straße (formerly: Wesermünder Straße) and the trade camp and on the Saturday before the first Advent the Christmas market at Dorphuus, all four Years a village community festival and - offset in between - a big harvest festival every four years. The last big celebrations were the 1150 year celebration in June 2010 and the village community festival under the motto "Lunestedt turns 50" in September 2018. The Dreamteam Lunetown (DTL) organizes a summer festival every two years - especially for young people. Every two years there is the rock festival "Der Lubi rocks" in the vicinity of the Lubi-Bad - the last one took place on June 17, 2017. The Lunestedter Christmas music takes place in the Ansgari Church on the Saturday before the second Advent. Every year in spring on Environment Day, young people from several associations clear the field of rubbish and plant bushes and trees. Since the completion of the Dorphuus, the Dorphuus working group has been holding monthly lectures, concerts and exhibitions in the Dorphuus. On the four Sundays in Advent there is the "Advent window at Dorphuus" - each time at one of the four windows of the Dorphuus facing the street Am Dorphuus (formerly: Schulstrasse), Lunestedter play and read for Lunestedter Advent.

Economy and Infrastructure

Companies

In Lunestedt, 1270 hectares of the municipal area (around 75%) are used for agriculture as arable land and grassland. 13 farms are between 20 and 100 hectares in size. Due to the favorable transport connections and brisk construction activity, a steady increase in the population is to be expected. On the street “Zum Lunebogen” (formerly: Bahnhofstraße) there is an industrial park with a furniture factory and the headquarters of an agricultural cooperative. In the newly designated industrial area “Ortsmitte” (at the train station), the first companies are using the expansion and development opportunities, including a. a trucking company. On the road to Heyerhöfen there is a biogas plant, a second "Am Geeren".

There is a supermarket, two slaughterhouses, a bakery, a beverage market, a pharmacy and two restaurants in the village. After the Wespa branch was closed, there is only one bank left, Volksbank Bremerhaven-Cuxland . There is a car workshop and a shipping company near the train station. A family doctor, two dentists and an alternative practitioner practice as well as a fitness studio ensure the health of the population. Since summer 2013 there is also a veterinarian in the former community office. A total of 220 workplaces are available on site.

Businesses from Lunestedt had come together to form the trade association, which held a trade day every year on the Sunday after Whitsun in the trade camp (near the train station). But it has since been dissolved.

From 2010 to 2011 there was initially heated argument in the village about whether a second supermarket should be built at the main intersection. As an alternative, the local Nah & Gut store of the Edeka Group is expanding its sales areas directly at the train station .

Wind power

In 2014/15 the Lunestedt / Heerstedt wind farm was built in Lunestedt (partly in Heerstedt and Stinstedt): 14 wind turbines with a height of 150 m and an output of 38.5 MW. The electricity production of 85,000,000 kWh / year is enough to supply 24,000 households with electricity. 67,000,000 euros were invested. The operator pays 5% of the sum that is distributed to the owners of the land to the non-profit development association Windpark Lunestedt, which spends the money (around 13,000 euros annually) on local social projects. The park was built by Energiekontor, a company founded in Bremerhaven in 1990, after which it was sold to Capital Stage AG (Hamburg). The handling of the business remained in the hands of Energiekontor.

education

An expanded primary school with a gym, sports and hard court is owned by the Beverstedt community and is located in the Westerbeverstedt district of Lunestedt. At the primary school, around 160 pupils from the villages of Heerstedt, Hollen and Lunestedt are taught by 12 teachers. Four groups are cared for in the kindergarten (incl. Integration group, day nursery and day-care center). Another sports field is available for sports. The solar-heated Lubi swimming pool is also used by many residents of other places in the summer months.

traffic

Lunestedt has a train station on the Bremen – Bremerhaven railway line . Since December 13, 2010, regional trains have stopped running every hour, but regional S-Bahn trains on the RS 2 line to Bremen and Bremerhaven. A taxi company ensures mobility without a timetable, and the call collective taxi runs according to schedule within the community.

The A 27 federal motorway runs eleven kilometers to the west. The A 22 (now: A 20 ) should run from [obsolete] 2020 on the local border with Heerstedt.
