Crowned beaver in the coat of arms of Biberach an der Riss , Baden-Württemberg

As a heraldic animal, the beaver is a common figure in heraldry . It is depicted in a strongly stylized way, with the tail (the so-called trowel) being clearly emphasized by its size as an important indicator. A scaled tail is also shown. All heraldic colors are allowed for the animal , but black is preferred. The beaver is shown running or erect (rising) in the coat of arms . The heraldic animal often nibbles on branches. Crowned beavers are possible. Other heraldic elements are often found in the coat of arms with the beaver. You can also find him as a coat of arms holder and in the upper coat of arms . It is also suitable as a word giver for talking coats of arms . Examples are Biberach an der Riß or Bibern .
