2-4 family

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2-4 Family was a hip hop / rap band that was active between 1998 and 2000.

biography

The band was founded in 1997 in Germany by Afro-American rappers Jay Dogg and Michael Johnson (Jazz) as well as Afro-American singer Essence (Essie) Woods from Dallas , Texas and her friend Jo O'Meara from London , England . Jo, who later became the lead singer of S Club 7 , was replaced by Joanna Biscardine, also from London, after the first single Stay , which was among other things a top 10 hit in Germany.

In December 1998 2-4 Family was part of the Rap Allstars alongside 4 the Cause , 2 Ruff , Sweetbox and Joe Thompson and Mike Dalien from Down Low . This project released a cover version of the Wham! -Christmas hits Last Christmas and made it into the top 30 in Germany and Switzerland.

The single Lean on Me was placed in many chart lists in Europe, in Germany, Austria and Switzerland even in the top 10. On March 16, 1999 the band released their only album Family Business , three months later the third and for the time being last single followed Take Me Home .

In 2006 the band 2-4 Family was re-founded by the producers with new members under the same name and released the single Stand Up , which, however, went unnoticed.
