Sweetbox is a German - American pop project by German producers Heiko Schmidt and Roberto "Geo" Rosan.
biography
With Kimberly Kearney as the singer and the single Booyah, Here We Go , the debut came in the summer of 1995. In 1996, Dacia Bridges was added with the single Shakalaka as a new singer.
In 1997 Rosan hit the Maryland - rapper and singer Tina Harris, the new lead singer of Sweetbox was. With their entry into the project, the music of walked Euros - House to hip-hop - beats with rap verses. The single, I'll Die for You , was released by Harris in 1997 and was mostly successful in Europe. But the successor Everything's Gonna Be Alright became an international success for the project in the same year. The combination of a hip-hop beat with the classical piece of music Air from the Overture in D major BWV 1068 by Johann Sebastian Bach and a gently sung accompanying text became a global hit.
The single Don't Go Away , released in 1998, was a very calm interpretation of the Adagio in G minor (Giazotto) , which goes back to the Venetian musician Tomaso Albinoni , and was also used as the introductory piece for the album Everything’s Gonna Be Alright . In December of that year, Sweetbox was part of the Rap Allstars alongside 4 the Cause , 2 Ruff , 2-4 Family and Joe Thompson and Mike Dalien from Down Low . This project released a cover version of the Wham! -Christmas hits Last Christmas and made it into the top 30 in Germany and Switzerland.
From 2000 to 2007, Jade Villalon was the singer of the band until she left the project together with Geo Rosan to start a solo career. In 2007, Heiko Schmidt signed Jamie Pineda, the fifth front singer for the project. Sweetbox sold a total of over three million albums and two million singles worldwide. The songs 1000 Words and Real Emotion were used in the video game Final Fantasy X-2 .
