4 the Cause (Eng. "For the cause") is a band from Oak Park near Chicago , consisting of the siblings Jason and Shonna and their cousin Bennie and Cousin Reshona, which was mainly successful in Europe .

history

The band was founded in March 1993, but under the name "Young Warriors for Christ" (Eng. "Young Warriors for Christ"). The four of them performed at various school festivals and won the Apollo Style Talent Contest in 1995 , whereupon they got a record deal. In 1996 the record Up on It , a pure gospel album , was a minor success in the Christian music scene in the USA . The band name was changed a few times. First to “Young Warriors for tha Crusade” (Eng. “Young Warriors for the Crusade”), then to “Young Warriors 4 the Cause” (Eng. “Young Warriors for the Cause”). At the end of 1997 the band decided to shorten this name to "4 the Cause", where "the Cause" stands for their Christian faith. They were taken under the management of Miles Bell and Robert Williams, who also managed the then successful band The Moffatts .

Eventually the breakthrough came with the cover version of Stand by Me (Originally by Ben E. King ), which was released in 1998. The song was a number 1 hit in Switzerland and reached number 2 each in Germany and Austria . On the album of the same name, which was subsequently released, there are two songs to be found, the original compositions of the four band members: Shine Again (J-Man) and Make Your Head Rock , which is about the band itself. The second release, Ain't No Sunshine (original by Bill Withers ), was much less successful, but made it into the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. At the end of 1998 4 the Cause was part of the Rap Allstars alongside 2-4 Family , 2 Ruff , Sweetbox and Joe Thompson and Mike Dalien from Down Low . This project released a cover version of the Wham! -Christmas hits Last Christmas and made it into the top 30 in Germany and Switzerland. The last time the chart entered 1999 with the single Let Me Be , this time only in Germany.

With a reinterpretation of the Paul Young hit Every Time You Go Away , 4 the Cause was unable to build on previous successes. The last single release e-mail also flopped.
