The municipality of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf is located southwest of the state capital Dresden and east of the city of Freiberg . The municipality is traversed by the Freiberger Mulde and the Bobritzsch rivers.

Neighboring communities are Tharandt , Klingenberg , Frauenstein , Lichtenberg / Erzgeb. , Weißenborn / Erzgeb. , Freiberg and Halsbrücke .

history

Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf was created on January 1, 2012 from the merger of the municipalities of Bobritzsch and Hilbersdorf . As early as 1994, the previously independent municipalities of Naundorf, Niederbobritzsch, Oberbobritzsch and Sohra merged to form the municipality of Bobritzsch.

City council and mayor

Since the municipal council election on May 26, 2019, the 18 seats of the municipal council have been distributed among the individual groups as follows:

• CDU : 6 seats
• Free voters: 7 seats
• LEFT : 1 seat
• AfD: 4 seats

The first mayor of the community is René Straßberger (CDU), who prevailed against his competitors Jens Uhlemann and Jens Merkel in the mayoral election on January 27, 2019.

At its meeting on September 18, 2014, the municipal council passed the resolution on the new coat of arms. The district office granted permission to use the coat of arms on October 22, 2014. The coat of arms was designed by Jörg Mantzsch , Magdeburg.

The Bobritzsch circular hiking trail is a 19 km long hiking trail through the villages of Oberbobritzsch, Sohra and Niederbobritzsch.
