Location of Oberbobritzsch in Saxony

Oberbobritzsch is a district of the community Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf in the district of central Saxony . The municipality of Oberbobritzsch became a district of the municipality of Bobritzsch on March 1, 1994 , which merged with Hilbersdorf on January 1, 2012 to form the municipality of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf.

Location and traffic

The village, stretching on both sides of the Bobritzsch over a length of about 5.5 km, borders directly to the north on Niederbobritzsch , to the west on Weißenborn / Erzgeb. , to the south to Burkersdorf and to the east it closes off the district with the district to Pretzschendorf . The town, about 11 km from the district town of Freiberg , is connected to the local public transport network. In addition, there is a train station on the Dresden – Chemnitz – Werdau railway line in the seamlessly merging district of Niederbobritzsch .

history

The place was founded as a forest hoof village in the course of the German settlement in the east and first mentioned in a legal act in 1280. Berthold von Stenzenberg transferred the fiefdom of a Vorwerk in Bobirtsch to the Freiberg Hospital . Further historical place name forms are 1293 Boberiz , 1361 Superior Bobritz , 1364 Obirsten Babirsch , 1445 Große Bobriczsch , 1555 Ober Boweritzsch and means upper place on the Biberbach. The village, which had belonged to the St. Johannis Hospital in Freiberg since the end of the 13th century, became the property of the Freiberg Council in 1539. This explains the earlier names of the village first as Freiberg Hospitaldorf and later as Freiberg Ratsdorf. The administrative districts of the state were the Freiberg administration in 1445, the Freiberg electoral or royal Saxon district office around 1696 to 1856 , then the Freiberg court office from 1856 and, after the judiciary and administration were separated in 1875, the Freiberg administration .

The main source of income was agriculture. Flax cultivation flourished in the 19th century in particular .

The mining, which can be proven in the place from 1511, played no economic role. In the “Morning Sun” pit near the church, silver ore and silver-bearing copper ore were dug. The Weißen-Rose- Erbstolln on the Mühlberg was enfeoffed until 1924, but did not bring any significant income. In the middle of the 17th century, an artificial moat was dug below the church , which served to supply the St. Lorenz pit in Conradsdorf with impact water .

The number of craftsmen who had been resident here for a long time was considerable. In 1586, 60 masons named four masters who already formed their own guild in 1575 . Five mills were once driven here by the Bobritzschwasser. The former Nieder- or Neumühle is still in operation today and produces high-quality cold - pressed oils .

Some quarry stone bridges from the 18th century are characteristic of the place. In the basin of the Sohrbach there are remains of a small medieval fortification . The facility can still be recognized by a trench cut into the slope and the elevated core structure.

The narrow-gauge railway Klingenberg-Colmnitz-Frauenstein , operated from 1889 to 1972, had a stop in Oberbobritzsch and has been developed as a cycling and hiking trail from here to Frauenstein .

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Oberbobritzsch became part of the Freiberg district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Freiberg from 1990 and was added to the district of Central Saxony in 2008. On April 1, 1974, the neighboring town of Sohra was incorporated.

On March 1, 1994, the municipalities of Oberbobritzsch merged with Sohra, Niederbobritzsch and Naundorf to form the municipality of Bobritzsch . On January 1, 2012, the municipalities of Bobritzsch and Hilbersdorf merged to form the municipality of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf, making Niederbobritzsch a part of this new municipality.

Oberbobritzsch Church

St. Nicolai Church Oberbobritzsch

The village church of St. Nicolai in the lower part of the village was first mentioned in 1361. Despite the renovation in 1915, the church still contains buildings from the Middle Ages. The double gallery was built in 1667 and once comprised the entire space of the hall, which was closed on three sides after the renovation. The pulpit in the north gallery dates from 1658. The organ, created in 1716 by the Saxon master organ builder Gottfried Silbermann , had a baroque shape until it was rebuilt in 1915 . It underwent a general overhaul in 2001. The six-winged carved altar by an unknown Freiberg artist, designated in 1521, is part of the excellent furnishings of the church . Regarding the time of origin, the modern renaissance ornamentation of the carving is remarkable. From 1988 to 1994 the church tower was renovated and in 1998 the church ceiling was restored.
