history

The large community Großweitzschen in the former district of Döbeln was created in 1994 as part of the Saxon municipal area reform from the previously independent communities Großweitzschen, Mockritz and Westewitz and has since comprised 24 districts. The district of Mockritz was first mentioned in 1204 and was the seat of an old noble family and the center of the region .

In 1241 half the village of Wiscene and the third part of the associated forest were transferred by Mgf. Heinrich the Illustrious to the Buch monastery after relinquishing it by the Burgraves of Leuben . It remains unclear whether it is a gift or a purchase . 1245 confirmed Ks. Frederick II. The monastery more from Empire to feud going and acquired by gift or purchase possessions , namely Mgf. Heinrich von Meißen a . a. the village of Wischene . This is not just about half the place. 1254 gave Mgf. Heinrich the Illustrious once again announced the transfer of half the village of Wiscene to the monastery, now with the addition that the Burgrave of Leuben left four hooves , the rest of the Burgrave of Leisnig , plus the third part of the neighboring forest. With the transfer of the village Parvum Wizen (Kleinweitzschen) in 1264, it becomes clear that it has really been Großweitzschen.

In 1277 Mgf. Heinrich the illustrious settled a dispute between the citizens of Döbeln and the Buch monastery. The citizens had complained about the tavern and the craftsmen in Großweitzschen. To resolve the dispute, Mgf. Heinrich sent his faithful Ortolf de Dewin and Rudeger de Schachowe to Großweitzschen to hear what the old people were saying in good faith . They said that inns, craftsmen, shoemakers , linen weavers , patchwork tailors and brewers have lived in the village since ancient times . The margrave dismissed the citizens of Döbeln's complaint . Abbot and convent of Buch should be allowed to keep these services free, unhindered by the citizens of Chub.

Mgf sold in 1286. Heinrich gave the monastery the upper and lower court in Großweitzschen. The burgrave of Meissen had previously given up the third pfennig of the court that he held there through the burgrave office. The Burgrave of Meißen had his judicial powers exercised in the area through a supan based in Großweitzschen, who had been given 5 Hufen there. The monastery did not want such a supan there and did not want to be hindered in his judicial rights. On the recommendation of the burgrave, the monastery moved this Supan to Kiebitz in 1291 , also on five Hufen that belonged to the monastery.

In 1351 Johannes, plebanus , is a witness for the Buch monastery in Wyczen . In 1371 Heynich kreczemer von wiczen was a witness in a legal dispute about the inn in Wendishain. 1378 Großweitzschen is not mentioned in the registrum dominorum . The Buch monastery was therefore fully owned by the village. 1382 Heyneman, schultheize zu Wiczczan , is a witness for Nickel von Staupitz in an exchange of goods. In 1469 Nickel Schuster from Großweitzschen was enfeoffed with a meadow in Tautendorf .

In 1508 , Blasius Schneider , pastor in Hoeweitzschen , donated 200 Rhenish guilders for two perpetual masses in the Buch monastery. In 1518 he again expanded his foundation by 100 Rhenish guilders so that two silver images of Saints Anna and Catherine could be made.

In 1548, the Buch zu Großweitzschen monastery inheritance book names "28 possessed men, including 10 horse men, who are all loanable and interestable to the Buch monastery" with 23 hooves. The upper court and inheritance court belonged to Buch monastery.

The place always had its own parish church of St. Martin . This patronage indicates old age and founding by a knight . The parish were small Weitz's, Westewitz, Eichardt and Tautendorf (now sheep ).
