Change tailor
The alteration tailor (originally Flickschneider ) is a state-recognized training occupation in Germany according to the Vocational Training Act and the Crafts Code .
Duration of training and structure
The training period to become an alteration tailor is usually two years. The training takes place at the training company and vocational school .
Work areas
Alterations tailors make changes to clothing or home textiles . They advise the customer, take orders, plan their course of action and make the desired changes. They work with irons and sewing machines, but also do hand sewing. Change tailors work in the service departments of department stores, but also in change studios.
background
In the vocational training report for 2004, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research describes that the federal government is maintaining that two-year training occupations are also employable training occupations at skilled worker level .
Continuation of training
Apprentices who have successfully completed their training as a tailor can continue their training in the three-year apprenticeship as a fashion seamstress or bespoke tailor in the third year of training.
