Stemmermühlen ( Low German Stemmermöhlen ) is a district of the village of Kirchwistedt in the unified municipality of Beverstedt in the Lower Saxony district of Cuxhaven . Up until 1935 it was a full farm or manor for several centuries.

history

Good stem mills

For many centuries, Stemmermühlen was a full yard and a water mill powered by the Lune . In a difficult time, the landowner Gottlieb Rauch died on October 13, 1930. His son Werner could no longer hold the estate with the water mill and sold it in 1934 to the Hannoversche Siedlungsgesellschaft. She calculated that 18 farmers could make a living on the 393 hectare estate if the 120 hectares of forest had been cut down and converted into arable land. That happened in 1935. At that time, a 16 hectare farmyard cost 11,500 Reichsmarks. Of this, 2,800 Reichsmarks had to be paid in cash.

Incorporations

On January 29, 1929, Stemmermühlen was incorporated into Kirchwistedt.

In the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , Kirchwistedt moved on March 1, 1974 from the Bremervörde district to the Beverstedt municipality ( Wesermünde district ).

Since November 1, 2011 Kirchwistedt has been a village in the unified municipality of Beverstedt in the district of Cuxhaven.

  2. A hoof is an old German square measure. The size varies - it was often 16 to 20 hectares. Depending on the quality of the soil, it was assumed that a hoof of land could support a farmer's family, so the farm of this size was called a full farm . The hooves were mostly long strips of farmland that began on the village road - where the farm was also located - and then stretched 500 m long at a width of 200 m. Through the division of inheritance , full farms were divided into half farms, quarter farmers, etc. Through inheritance or contracts, farmers could also have several hooves - two hooves, three hooves, etc. (see "Hooves" from Gen-Wiki )
