Fleeste ( Low German Fleest ) is a village in the Loxstedt unified municipality in the Lower Saxony district of Cuxhaven .

The village on the Lune is surrounded by marshland and is located a few kilometers south of the city ​​of Bremerhaven . To the north are Ueterlande and Lanhausen , to the south is Stotel .

history

The place has been part of the municipality of Loxstedt since March 1, 1974. Historically, it was parish in the parish of Stotel and belonged to the Stotel office around 1786, or later to the offices of Stotel-Vieland (1779–1831), Lehe (1831–1885) or the districts of Geestemünde (1885–1932) and Wesermünde . From 1840 Fleeste was a rural community and since 1876 a district .

The design of the municipal coat of arms of Fleeste comes from the heraldist and coat of arms painter Albert de Badrihaye , who designed around 80 coats of arms in the district of Cuxhaven.
