Wiemsdorf ( Low German Wiemsdbod ) is a place in the Loxstedt unified municipality in the Lower Saxony district of Cuxhaven .

geography

The village is situated in the district land Would . Neighboring towns are Dedesdorf-Eidewarden in the west and Maihausen in the southeast. The Weser and a junction of the federal highway 437 at the Weser tunnel are also nearby .

history

The first written mention of the place can be proven for the year 1105. The village used to belong to the municipality of Landwürden until it was incorporated into Loxstedt in 1974. Wiemsdorf is still characterized by a large number of thatched houses and has the oldest thatched roof house in Landworth, dating from 1638. In recent years, the village has also been renovated with red stone paving of the streets and planting. The redesigned village square is the center of the village.
