history

Around 1500 Sellstedt was parish in the Beverstedt parish and at that time also belonged to the Beverstedt Börde . In addition, membership of the aristocratic court in Beverstedt around 1768 can be proven. During the French period , the village was briefly assigned to the Bexhövede municipality (canton of Bremerlehe ). From 1851 to 1859 the village belonged to the Beverstedt office and then from 1859 to 1885 to the Lehe office. After the dissolution of the Hanoverian offices of the place belonged 1885-1932 to circle Geestemünde and then to the counties Wesermünde or Cuxhaven . The rural community Sellstedt was formed in 1840 and the district of the same name in 1876. From 1971 to 1974 Sellstedt was, together with Schiffdorf and Bramel, a member community of the Geesteort joint community. Since no integrated communities were allowed in the area around the city, the formerly independent community of Sellstedt was incorporated into the new unitary community of Schiffdorf with other communities as part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , which took place on March 1, 1974.

The local home nurse is Ingrid Krafzel. The village is assigned to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Bexhövede. From 1988 to 1993 a village renewal took place in Sellstedt.
