history

The village belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish Debstedt and was previously assigned to the Debstedt Börde or the Bederkesa office (around 1768). From 1810 to 1813 the village belonged to the Bremerlehe municipality and from 1852 to 1885 to the Lehe district. After the dissolution of the Hanoverian offices and the formation of districts, Wehden was assigned to the Lehe district from 1885 to 1932 and the Wesermünde district from 1932 . The village has been in the Cuxhaven district since 1977.

The local home attendant is Werner Kamjunke.

Incorporations

The community existed since 1840 and was incorporated into Schiffdorf on March 1, 1974, as the regional reform in Lower Saxony envisaged large unified communities near major cities.

coat of arms

Wehden coat of arms
Blazon : "In red a slight left specified silver mallet with the numbers" 23/23 " , accompanied to the right of a silver oak leaf with acorn , left a silver urn ."
Justification for the coat of arms: The oak leaf indicates the interpretation of the place name as a wood. The wooden hammer with the numbers “23/23” reminds us that the peasant forest belongs to 23 people interested in wood, and the urn to the urn cemetery.
