Gustedt is the name of an old noble family from Lower Saxony with the parent house of the same name (today part of the Elbe municipality in the Wolfenbüttel district ).

history

The family first appears in a document in 1154 and 1169 with Hermannus de Gustidde , Marshal of Duke Henry the Lion (1129–1195). The direct line of tribe began with Rasche von Gustedt († around 1411), landlord on Deersheim , Bexheim and others.

As early as the middle of the 13th century, the family was divided into several lines. The first line acquired properties in the area around Halberstadt and Oschersleben , another was established in the Duchy of Lüneburg , the third was wealthy in the Principality of Grubenhagen , and the fourth went to Deersheim in the Diocese of Halberstadt near their Schwanebecker properties in 1391 .

The first three lines of the von Gustedt family died out in the late Middle Ages and other families acquired their goods through daughter inheritance. Only the villages around Schwanebeck went over to the surviving Gustedter Line (Deersheimer Line). This meant that the von Gustedt family resided on Gut Deersheim for 550 years without interruption until it was expropriated by the land reform in 1945. She also owned the Berßel estate until 1945 .
