Deersheim is a district of the town of Osterwieck in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The village is five kilometers east of Osterwieck and 20 kilometers north of Wernigerode . In terms of landscape, the place is on the eastern edge of the large fall stone between Großem Bruch and Harz on the Deersheimer Aue . The village has about 820 inhabitants.

history

Deersheim was first mentioned in a document in 968. There are two old churches in the village. These testify to the fact that the village has grown together from two villages, Bexheim and Deersheim. The Deersheim estate was owned by the von Gustedt family from around 1400 (until 1945) at the latest . Rudolf von Gustedt (1714–1783), senior appellate judge in Celle, gentleman in Deersheim, Bexheim and Eilenstedt, married Anna Rebecca von Münchhausen (1724–1775), a sister of the famous “Baron of Lies” in 1743 .

On September 30, 1928, the manor Deersheim was united with the rural community Deersheim.

On September 11, 2003, Deersheim became part of the community of Aue-Fallstein. Aue-Fallstein merged with the other municipalities of the Osterwieck-Fallstein administrative community on January 1, 2010 to form the new town of Osterwieck, of which it is now a district.
