Rohrsheim is a district of the town of Osterwieck in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt . The village is located about 20 kilometers (as the crow flies) northwest of Halberstadt on the L 78 road between Dedeleben and Hesse . The place has around 670 inhabitants.
history
Rohrsheim was first mentioned on August 6, 941 in a deed of gift from King Otto to the Moritz monastery in Magdeburg . At that time the place was called Rareshein in Herdaja ( Harzgau ) in the County of Thietmars. Rohrsheim belonged to the castle district of the Westerburg .
On July 14th, 1596, two and on May 12th, 1597 three other women from Rohrsheim were burned at the Westerburg in witch trials at the instigation of the bailiff Peregrinus Hünerkopf. Katharina Bernburg from Rohrsheim fled to Wernigerode , but was burned there on June 6, 1597 for alleged witchcraft . Another victim was the young Anna Meyer from Rohrsheim on August 13, 1597.
On September 11, 2003, Rohrsheim became part of the community of Aue-Fallstein , which merged with the other communities of the Osterwieck-Fallstein administrative community on January 1, 2010 to form the new town of Osterwieck.
