Dedeleben is a district of the community Huy in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The place is located directly on the Großes Bruch nature reserve . The former wetland limits the northern Harz foreland to the north.

The Westerburg district and the Kummühle residential area belonged to the municipality of Dedeleben .

history

Dedeleben was first mentioned in the year 1057. In ancient times the Marienbach separated the village into Groß- and Klein-Dedeleben or North and South Dedeleben. By merging these places in 1909 Dedeleben was created in its present form.

On October 17, 1928, the manor district of Dedeleben was combined with the rural community of Dedeleben.

The place celebrated its 950th anniversary on July 8, 2007 with a large parade.

On April 1, 2002, the municipality of Dedeleben formed the new municipality of Huy together with the other ten municipalities of the dissolved Huy administrative community .

Dedeleben had a train station on the Jerxheim – Nienhagen railway line .

Personalities

The organ builder Andreas Schweimb (1654–1701) and the publisher Otto Paulmann (1899–1986) were born in Dedeleben.

Robert Meyer (1864–1947), gynecologist and pathologist, ran a country doctor's practice in the village from 1890 to 1894. The sculptor Walter Howard (1910–2005) lived in Dedeleben for some time from 1992.
