history

Pabstorf was first mentioned in a document in 1084. The assumption that Pope Clement II was born in Pabstorf and that the place was named after him is common, but incorrect .

For a time Pabstorf consisted of two communities with their own offices, mayors, etc. While the majority of the inhabitants belonged to the Duchy of Braunschweig (later the Free State of Braunschweig and the State of Braunschweig), the minority belonged to the Prussian province of Saxony . A total of 17 Prussian enclaves enclosed by Braunschweig dismembered Pabstorf and made life curious and difficult due to the various state laws. The part of the municipality belonging to the district of Oschersleben had 269 inhabitants in 1910 and the part belonging to the district of Wolfenbüttel 1088 inhabitants.

After more than 600 years belonging to Braunschweig, the Braunschweig part of Pabstorf was exchanged together with the town of Hesse for Hornburg and Roklum in 1941 and thus became Prussian and came to the Oschersleben district, to which the Prussian part of Pabstorf belonged. On April 1, 1942, the former Prussian community of Pabstorf was incorporated into the former Brunswick community of Pabstorf. In 1945 it came to the Soviet occupation zone . In the GDR, Pabstorf was the location of a company of the border troops .

On April 1, 2002, the municipality of Pabstorf formed the new municipality of Huy together with the other ten municipalities of the dissolved Huy administrative community .

The oldest house in the Halberstadt district is located in Pabstorf. The building was built on the foundation wall of a former temple castle and has richly decorated half-timbering.
