The design of the coat of arms is based on the natural conditions of the landscape in which the 11 districts are located. 5 villages are located on the slopes of the Huy, they are symbolized by 5 green beech leaves (on the back of the Huy there are mainly beech stands). 6 places are located on the edge of the Great Quarry, they are symbolized by 6 silver reed fruits with reed leaves (popularly known as “Bumskolben”).
The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Erika Fiedler .
