Hermann Kahmann

Gottfried Hermann Kahmann (born November 29, 1881 in Schlanstedt ; † January 28, 1943 in Dresden ) was a member of the Reichstag for the SPD .

Life

Kahmann attended elementary school in Schlanstedt from 1888 to 1896. By 1900 he learned the trade of mechanic in Welbsleben and Berlin.

Since 1900 member of the German Metalworkers' Association , he worked for this union from 1905 as an "agitation officer". In 1907 he became party secretary of the SPD, for which he was a member of the Potschappel municipal council from 1912 to 1917 . During the November Revolution of 1918, Kahmann was a member of the Executive Committee of the Dresden Workers 'and Soldiers' Council and a delegate to the Congress of Workers 'and Soldiers' Councils . In the election on January 19, 1919 , Kahmann was elected to the National Assembly for the SPD . From 1920 to 1924 he was a member of the Reichstag for the constituency of Dresden-Bautzen, from 1922 to 1924 parliamentary group secretary of the SPD parliamentary group, and from 1928 then governor in Zittau .
