Groß Quenstedt is a municipality in the district of Harz ( Saxony-Anhalt ). It is a member community of the Vorharz community .

geography

The place is in the northern Harz foreland on the Holtemme , northeast of the district town of Halberstadt . The federal highway 245 to Schwanebeck and the railway line Magdeburg – Thale , to which Groß Quenstedt was connected with its own train station until 2012, lead through the place .

history

The church

Groß Quenstedt belonged to the Halberstadt diocese until 1648 and then came to the Brandenburg (Prussian) principality of Halberstadt. The stain was directly subordinate to the Major Office Halberstadt. 1808–1813 he belonged to the Saale Department of the Kingdom of Westphalia and in 1815 came to the administrative district of Magdeburg in the Prussian province of Saxony .
