Andreas Schweimb (* 1654 in Dedeleben near Halberstadt; baptized on November 22, 1654 ; † January 31, 1701 ; buried on February 13, 1701 in Einbeck ) was a master organ builder of the Baroque period . He worked in Einbeck in the last quarter of the 17th century. Organs from his workshop are mainly found in the Lower Saxony area.

The Hildesheim bishop Jobst Edmund von Brabeck commissioned Schweimb to build the organs in the field monasteries Heiningen , Wöltingerode , Lamspringe , Ringelheim and Riechenberg , which were re-Catholicized after 1643 (restitution of the Great Hildesheim Monastery) , and also to build two organs in his Westphalian possessions, Letmathe and Hemer .

“Andreas Schweimb, together with his successor Johann Jacob John, played a central role in organ development in the area on both sides of the Upper Weser around 1700. He was the only organ builder active in what is now Lower Saxony at that time, Arp Schnitger in the size of the projects, the independence the concepts as well as the quality of the craftsmanship and the intonation was equal. "

“The most noticeable differences in Schweimb's construction compared to the Arp Schnitgers and the other north German organ builders can be seen in the former in the exclusive use of the improved spring drawer , the expansion of the pedal circumference up to the crossed-in e and the waiver of the Rückpositiv . The piano circumference ranged in Schweimb of C, D, Dis-e, 51 keys comprising. "

After his death, Arp Schnitger, who was Schweimb's competitor in several organ projects, said that he, Schnitger, “would not have thought that such an artist would be in the world; it would be a pity that it should rot ”.
