Langenholzen is a district in the northeast of the town of Alfeld (Leine) in the Hildesheim district in Lower Saxony . The L 485 runs through the village and connects it with the city center.
geography
The place is in the Warnetal between the Seven Mountains and the Sackwald in the Sackmulde .
history
The place was first mentioned in documents in 1205, at that time still as "Holtensen". It emerged as a planned settlement of the Hägerdorf, in which the assigned farms were separated by hedges (Hägen).
In the course of the regional and administrative reform, Langenholzen lost its independence on March 1, 1974 and has been a district of the city of Alfeld (Leine) ever since.

The municipality was awarded the municipal coat of arms on February 8, 1935 by the Prussian State Ministry . The district administrator from Alfeld presented it on February 21 of the same year.

Foundation of the coat of arms: In Langenholzen, where fishing is mentioned as early as 1237, trout fishing in the Warnebach stream flowing through the village has been common practice among young and old since ancient times. The coat of arms linked to this fact is based on the coat of arms of the long-established Fischer clan dated 1667 in a window of the church in Langenholzen. |
Culture and sights
Buildings
- The St. Bonifatius Church was built in the 12th century from a fortified tower, to which the nave was added around 1300. The church was first mentioned in 1205.
