Hörsum coat of arms
Blazon : "In blue , a silver gold armored owl on one of the lower plate edge out coming golden bough ."
Justification of the coat of arms: The vernacular has called the residents of Hörsum since ancient times the "Julen" (= owls) and calls the village "Julennest". Perhaps this joke or derision name can be traced back to the many owls in the surrounding forests. The fact that the village's bachelor club has an owl as a symbol in its flag shows us how the Hörsumers perceive their “ternids name” . Since history offered no support for the design of the coat of arms, the community decided to use the owl as a coat of arms symbol.
