Imsen is a district of Alfeld (Leine) in the Hildesheim district , in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

geography

Imsen is located in the Leinebergland about four kilometers south of the Alfeld town center. The village is located at around 95 to 125  m above sea level. NHN a little east of the Steinberg ridge ( 300.3  m above sea level ), south of the Nattenberg ( 171  m above sea level ), west-northwest of the Hackeberg ( 175.1  m above sea level ) and north of the Selter ridge ( 395  m above sea level) ). The Wispe , a southwest tributary of the nearby Leine , flows through the village.

history

The place name is derived from the family name Immo .

As part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , Imsen was incorporated into the city of Alfeld (Leine) on March 1, 1974.

coat of arms

The municipality was awarded the municipal coat of arms on May 17, 1938 by the President of the Province of Hanover . The district administrator from Alfeld presented it on October 18 of the same year.

Justification of the coat of arms: Imsen is one of the Meierdörfer in the Steinbergschen Herrschaft Wispenstein. The municipality of Imsen created this coat of arms based on the coat of arms of the extinct von Steinberg family , which shows a jumping ibex as a symbol.
