Founding of the coat of arms: Wispenstein was the eponymous seat of the oldest judicial and administrative district of the outgoing possessions of one of the important - now extinct - families of Lower Saxony: von Steinberg , who already owned rich possessions in the Leinebergland in the 12th century. Based on the von Steinberg coat of arms (black rising ibex on gold), that of the Wispenstein municipality is designed and chosen. |
