Jens Möckel (born February 21, 1988 in Leipzig ) is a German football player . He primarily plays in the central defender position .

Career

Möckel played in the U-19 Bundesliga for FC Sachsen Leipzig and was active in the Oberliga Nordost-Süd after his move to the first team . He quickly developed into a regular player. For the 2008/09 season , the Saxon moved to the third division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , where he prevailed against the competition on the central defender position. For Erfurt, the defender played a total of 93 third division games between 2008 and 2011, in which he scored four goals. Within three seasons Möckel received 38 yellow cards , which he still holds the third division record.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season Möckel moved to the second division promoted Dynamo Dresden . He received a two-year contract until June 30, 2013. However, this was terminated after a year at the beginning of August 2012 by mutual agreement after Möckel had not prevailed at SGD and was only used in the second team.

A day later Möckel signed a one-year contract until June 30, 2013 with his old club, FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , which he extended to June 30, 2016 after a successful first year. After a broken tibia in September 2013, he was out for six months.

In the course of the 2014/15 season , he played a total of 21 games after a solid first half of the season . Due to cartilage damage in his left knee, which was probably related to his previous shin injury, he underwent a major operation on January 6, 2015 and was out until the end of the season. After a break of over a year, he made his comeback in the 3rd division in February 2016. By the end of the season he played nine games in which he scored two goals.
