history

The tithe to be paid by Rhoden to Halberstadt Abbey is already described in a document from 1242. The monastery gave fiefs to noble families in Rhoden, such as the von Berwinkel family , who had an episcopal fief in the village from 1311.

Rhoden belonged to the Diocese of Halberstadt until 1648 and then came to the Principality of Halberstadt . The place was directly subordinate to the Office Hornburg and in 1815 came to the administrative district Magdeburg of the Prussian province of Saxony . In 1818 Rhoden had two aristocratic estates, 90 houses, 550 inhabitants, a church, brickworks, forestry, inn, watermill and windmill.

From 1961 the place was directly in the border area of the GDR and could only be reached with a special permit. Rhoden is home to several listed, historical buildings. These include the Hoym Manor (1670), the Taubenturm (17th century), the Dorfkrug (1554) and the St. Vitus Church from the 12th century.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on July 15, 1997 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : "In silver, a red rose with green sepals and a green clump, raised by two crossed blue double hooks."

The colors of the former municipality are red - silver (white).

The municipality had been using its coat of arms for a long time. It has been used since the 30's. The figure of the rose is intended to remind of the noble family von Saldern, who were wealthy here and who helped shape the history of the place. The angled double hooks refer to the earlier construction activities in the hilly area of the large Fallstein, report a district sign and represent signs of salvation and blessing.
