The Lukas Verlag ( own spelling deviating from orthography rules) was founded on December 1st, 1995 by Frank Böttcher. The publishing house is in Berlin.

The main focus of Lukas Verlag is a. Art history and architecture , contemporary history and regional cultural history. The challenging program features both academic papers and more broadly interesting titles. The most important publications include books about Berlin ( Die Stadt Berlin in printmaking 1570–1870 ), architecture ( architecture in Berlin 1933–1945 , swimming pool construction in Berlin ) and contemporary history ( unrecognized by Freundesland , Manfred “Ibrahim” Böhme ). The history of Brandenburg ( the art of the Middle Ages in the Mark Brandenburg , gardens and parks in Brandenburg ) and the resistance against the Nazi dictatorship ( the “other” imperial capital ) are other prominent topics. Among the scientific series, the studies on the history, art and culture of the Cistercians are the most extensive , with over thirty volumes . The publishing house has also made a name for itself with several publications on GDR topics ( The Story of the Mosaic by Hannes Hegen ) or on music ( My Name It Is Nothin '. Bob Dylan ).

With the title Emmi Bonhoeffer . Conversation, essay, memory , the small Berlin company reached 5th place on the Spiegel bestseller list in spring 2005 , after Günther Jauch wrote the book in Elke Heidenreich's program ZDF -lesen! recommended to the audience.
