Mehrum is a district of Hohenhameln in the Peine district in Lower Saxony . The village is on the Mittelland Canal and the B 65 .

history

The oldest surviving document, which mentions Mehrum, dates back to 1179. Today the village has 1096 inhabitants. The baroque village church with its characteristic tower is worth seeing in the village . The Mehrum coal-fired power station on the Mittelland Canal, which has its own inland port for delivering coal, is visible from afar . The plant supplies a large part of the Peine district and the eastern region of Hanover with energy.

Mehrum was incorporated into the municipality of Hohenhameln on March 1, 1974.
