St. Katharinen Church Schönemoor

The St. Katharinen parish in Schönemoor , a district of the Ganderkesee parish , is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg .
The parish has transferred several functions to the regional office of the parish of Delmenhorst / Oldenburg-Land, based in Delmenhorst.

history

The St. Katharinen Church is a brick church from 1324 and one of the best preserved churches of this time in the North German Plain. The church is named after the Byzantine martyr Catherine of Alexandria , who allegedly died in 306 or 307. The St. Catherine's Church is attested as a pilgrimage church by papal indulgence from 1333. The original of the certificate is in the Oldenburg State Archives . There are extensive records of the preachers from the Reformation up to 1903.

Hillebrand organ from 1976

The organ was built in 1976 by Gebrüder Hillebrand Orgelbau from Hanover. It has two manuals and a pedal with the following registers :

graveyard

Several grave steles from the 17th / 18th centuries have been found in the cemetery . Century preserved.

Bell jar

In 1681, the brass caster Joh. Otto Kroeger, Oldenburg, cast a bell. It was recast in 1790 by the bell caster JP Bartels, Bremen. The bell is tuned to the tone G sharp and has a diameter of 0.97 m.
