Erasmus Bielfeldt

Erasmus Bielfeldt (* 1682 probably in Stade ; † October 19, 1753 in Hoya ) was a German organ builder of the 18th century.

Life

Bielfeldt was probably born in Stade . He may have been a student of Arp Schnitger , but this has not yet been proven. His dispositions are similar to Schnitger's, but do not show any return positive .

It is proven that he worked for Matthias Dropa in Lüneburg from 1707 to 1715, where he married Anna Eliesabeth Rohde (n) on June 14, 1707, with whom he had three daughters and three sons. Johann Matthias Bielfeldt, baptized in Lüneburg in 1712, later also worked as an organ builder.

After Lüneburg, Erasmus Bielfeldt worked in Celle and Bremen . During this time he built new organs for churches in Müden (1720), Ahlden (1722/1723) and Bremen- Horn (1728/1729). Around 1730 he returned to Stade and settled there. From 1736/1736 his residence was again in Bremen, where he often repaired organs and built a new building for St. Remberti (1738), among other things .

Bielfeldt mainly worked in the organ landscape between the Elbe and Weser . His best-known work is probably the organ of St. Wilhadi in Stade, which he completed in 1736. He built a total of at least eight organs, including the one for the St. Willehadi Church in Osterholz-Scharmbeck (1734).

He died in 1753 in the city of Hoya , whose death register records him as 70 years old.
