The Bücken area owes its creation to a church act. The foundation dates back to 882. At that time, Archbishop Rimbert of Bremen founded the Bücken Abbey as a mission center. Bücken also served the archbishops as a place of refuge. B. in the Viking raids of the 10th century . The current district of Altenbücken was mentioned as early as 860. Around 1200 the monastery was one of the richest tax collectors in northern Germany thanks to numerous donations and contributions. In 1413, the Counts of Hoya granted the town the right to land in a letter of freedom . In 1945 the company Albin Grünzig & Co. was founded in the village , a manufacturer of gymnastics, sports and playground equipment, which later moved to Eystrup .
Bücken has been part of the county Hoya joint municipality since 1974 .

coat of arms
Description of the coat of arms : In gold, two upright, turned away, red- reinforced black bear paws with red cut surfaces, in the middle a black bishop's staff growing out of the lower edge of the shield with a bend open to the left.
Symbolism: The bear paws indicate the former rule of the Counts of Hoya. The coat of arms colors black and gold are based on the coat of arms colors of the Hoya counts. The bishop's staff is supposed to establish the relationship with the collegiate church and the Archdiocese of Bremen. The execution of the coat of arms is closely based on the stain seal of Bücken from 1413.

Culture and sights
Buildings
- The collegiate church of St. Materniani et St. Nicolai , also known as "Bücker Dom", is a three-aisled pillar basilica with twin towers and cones from the 12th century . Significant art treasures are the late Gothic carved altar (around 1510), the triumphal cross group (1260/70), the glass windows (before 1250), the pulpit ( 13th century ) and the choir stalls ( 14th century ). After the monastery was dissolved in 1648, the church fell into disrepair and was not extensively restored until 1863–1867.
- Ostertorstrasse 18 deserves special mention among the half-timbered buildings in the town . The two-post construction from 1621 is decorated with elaborate carvings on the gable side. The house at Ostertorstraße 6 , built in 1772, has a front door with a rococo-shaped skylight .
Art in public space
- The bronze plastic donkey with monk by the artist Frijo Müller-Belecke on the market square near the collegiate church. The sculpture was erected in 1982 on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of the Fleckens stooping. It refers to the legend of the naming of the spot.
- The sculpture Statio, made of copper scrap, by the artist Pablo Hirndorf on the church forecourt from 2010, which is related to the sheet copper exhibition Stations of the Cross inside the church.
- In addition, there are two works of art by the Schweringen artist Gottlieb Pot d'Or - possibly from the 1960s - in publicly accessible buildings:
- a panel in the Volksbank and
- a blackboard in the savings bank.
sports clubs
There are several sports clubs in Flecken Bücken, such as MTV Bücken and SV Duddenhausen. There is also at least one shooting club in each district.
Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
Bending over is not of great importance in terms of traffic. A trunk road does not go through the community. There used to be a small railway line from Bücken to Hoya (Weser), which was dismantled in 1963 (see also the article Verkehrsbetriebe Grafschaft Hoya (VGH) ).
The bus line 20 of the Verkehrsgesellschaft Landkreis Nienburg GmbH runs every hour to the district town and to the neighboring Hoya. In addition, the VGH's lines 26 (Bücken - Warpe - Nordholz - Bücken - Hoya) and 27 (Bücken - Calle - Duddenhausen - Dedendorf - Bücken - Hoya) serve the districts and mainly transport pupils to the general schools in Hoya and to the Bücken elementary school . Line 151 (Hoya - Bücken - Asendorf - Syke) runs a fourth line through the area.
