Eystrup is a municipality in the municipality of Grafschaft Hoya in the district of Nienburg / Weser in Lower Saxony .
history
An old name of the place is around 1025 Estorp. In old spelling, the place name is identical to Estorf: 1217 Estorpe. (also: Eißdorff). The basic form is "Ages-thorp" and means "village of an 'Agi'", to "harrow, corner" for "edge, sharpness of the sword".
The area around Eystrup was settled early on. An archaeological find that dates back to 750 BC. Is dated ("Hortfund vom Blankenmoor bei Eystrup"), consists of bronze pieces of jewelery such as a neck ring, additional rings and an amber chain. The Eystrup church was first mentioned in 1179. The towns surrounding Eystrup were mentioned earlier.
In 1945 the company Albin Grünzig & Co. was founded in Bücken , a manufacturer of gymnastics, sports and playground equipment, which later moved to Eystrup.
On November 29, 1951, the assassin Erich von Halacz sent package bombs , including to Carl Maynitz, the manager of the Göbber jam factory . There was an explosion in the post office in Eystrup, in which the clerk of the Göbber company, Margret Grüneklee, was killed.
Until 1977 Eystrup belonged to the county of Hoya , then came to the county of Nienburg with the regional reform. The planned merger with the municipality of Gandesbergen for 2006 was rejected by the local council.
In 2011 the joint municipality of Eystrup merged with the joint municipality of Grafschaft Hoya.
On March 1, 1974, the small neighboring community of Mahlen was incorporated.

- In the middle of Eystrup there is a tower Dutch windmill with a gallery called "Margarethe" on a small hill . It was built in 1861 and, with one motor and two windmills, is still largely functional. However, grinding is only used for demonstration on special occasions. The mill is looked after by the association “Eystruper Mühlenfreunde e. V. “Members of the association take over mill tours on request. Since 2003 there has been a wedding room of the Eystrup registry office in the mill.

There was a rifle club in Eystrup around 1920 . After the place Doenhausen was incorporated into Eystrup in 1929, the shooting club Eystrup and the shooting club Doenhausen share the place to this day. With the marching band in the Doenhausen rifle club, Eystrup has also been represented musically since 1958 not only in the area, but also in the districts of Verden, Hanover, Bremen and Cuxhaven . Eystrup is the location of a large nursing home for the elderly ( Hohenholz country estate ). The closest hospitals are the Aller-Weser Clinic in Verden (Aller) and the Mittelweser Clinics ( Helios Clinics ) in Nienburg / Weser . There is a volunteer fire brigade in Eystrup .

Eystrup is on the B 215 between Nienburg / Weser and Verden . The community has a train station on the Wunstorf – Bremen railway (which is also part of the Weser-Aller railway in this section ) and on the freight and museum railway line Eystrup - Hoya - Bruchhausen-Vilsen - Syke (" Kaffkieker "). The Eystruper Bahnhof was completely modernized in 2011 and 2012. Since then, the old track 1 in the direction of Nienburg and the new track 3 in the direction of Verden have been used. IC / ICE / EC and freight trains pass through platform 2. With the renovation, the station was made barrier-free . The old level crossing was replaced by an underpass for cyclists and pedestrians. Motor vehicles have to use the newly built bridge a little further south. Several bus routes operated by Verkehrsbetriebe Grafschaft Hoya (VGH) are available for local transport . In terms of tariffs, Eystrup is part of the Bremen / Lower Saxony transport association (VBN).
