The Göbber GmbH , headquartered in Lower Saxony Eystrup makes jams , fruit syrups , fruit fillings and fruit spreads and prepares also honey on. The independent company has existed since 1888. The sole shareholder is Mayntz GmbH in Eystrup, which also includes Deutsche Honig Import GmbH , Friedrich Göbber GmbH and Eystruper Land GmbH .

Products

Göbber is one of the largest jam manufacturers in Europe. Among other things, trade brands for bakeries, retailers (e.g. Lidl ) and bulk consumers are produced. Customers are the European food retail trade (e.g. Edeka , Rewe , Markant Group), wholesalers and bulk consumers (e.g. portion packs to the catering trade), the baking trade and the baking industry (including fruit fillings for dominoes ).

Göbber is certified according to the International Food Standard (compliance at a higher level) and also works according to the standards of the Business Social Compliance Initiative . Since 2009 there has been a factory outlet in Eystrup, the “marmeLADEN”.

At the beginning of 2017, the private jam shop Friedrich Göbber, a sister company of Göbber GmbH, launched the fruit spread GLÜCK.

history

In 1888 Friedrich Göbber founded a trading company in Eystrup, which processed jams and fruit syrups from fruits from the surrounding gardens on a small scale. In 1923, Carl Mayntz joined his father-in-law's company in the second generation as managing director. Even then, the focus was entirely on processing fruit. Together with the founder's son, Friedrich Göbber, we succeeded in building up a leading fruit processing company.

In 1969, Norbert Mayntz took over his father's business in the third generation as managing partner. Under his leadership, the company developed into one of the industry leaders in Europe. In 2006 Michael Mayntz became his father's successor and thus a fourth generation managing partner. The business areas of food retailing (LEH) brand Göbber, food retail trade mark, bulk consumers, bakery and bakery and confectionery industry were expanded in Europe. In 2013 Michael Mayntz handed over the management to Michael Berghorn, who is now chairman of the management.

As of November 2016, the website states a production capacity of around 500,000 glasses per day, up to 500 glasses per minute, 80,000 tons. Annual production .

Others

On November 29, 1951, the company's 18-year-old clerk, Margret Grüneklee, was killed by a parcel bomb when she was picking up a package addressed to the owner of the jam factory from the post office in Eystrup. A short time later, the police identified the 22-year-old Erich von Halacz from Drakenburg as the perpetrator , who wanted to extort money from the relatives of the victims in this way.
