Stöckse is a municipality in the east of the Nienburg / Weser district and is a member of the Steimbke municipality in Lower Saxony .
geography
Stöckse is located in the middle of the "Krähe" state forest between Langendamm and Steimbke .
Stöckse is divided into the villages of Stöckse and Wenden with the district of Lohe.
history
A first documentary mention of Stöckse can be found in the list of goods in the Herford monastery from 1180. In old records the names Stockhausen, Stukenhausen, Stockheim, Stöcksen or Stöxe were also used for the place.
After the Wölpe office was dissolved, Stöckse was assigned to the Nienburg office in 1859 .
On March 1, 1974, the neighboring community of Wenden was incorporated.

The council of the municipality of Stöckse consists of eleven council women and councilors. This is the specified number for the member municipality of an integrated municipality with a population between 1001 and 2000 inhabitants. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

Culture and sights
theatre
An open-air theater founded in 1951 is located in a wooded area in the center of Stöckse; it offers space for up to 700 visitors. The audience is offered comedies and pranks in the Low German language , a children's theater under the motto “Children play for children” and special events. In 1986 the registered association was founded, which today operates the stage; in the same year he joined the Association of German Open-Air Theaters (VDF).
Every year on the second weekend in December, the old school hosts the Dbodwiehnacht , which includes a children's Christmas play on the open-air stage and a Christmas market .
Attractions
- In Stöckse there is a small forest lake, the Stöckser See, which has high recreational value for the Stöckser citizens.
- In the adjacent forest, a few steps from the lake, you can visit the Giebichenstein , a huge boulder from the Ice Age .
- Immediately next to the giant stone is the "Devil's Bed", a Neolithic large stone grave , which was stripped of its capstones.
- In addition, there is the only preserved and restored potato steaming plant in Germany in Stöckse . It has been an official cultural monument since June 2009.
- The windmill Ahrbecker came in 1870 after Stöckse-turning and was probably still built some 200 years earlier. It was shut down in 1930 and restarted in 2003. The three grinders of the mill are a special feature . Since 2007 the mill has been called "Martha".
Economy and Infrastructure
District roads 3 and 5 run through Stöckse, and federal road 214 north of the town . The nearest train station is Linsburg on the Bremen – Hanover railway line , five kilometers southwest of Stöckse. Line 40 from Regiobus Hannover connects the village of Stöckse with the district town of Nienburg (Weser) and the Nienburg (Weser) train station . Line 42 connects Lohe and Wenden with the Linsburg and Nienburg (Weser) stations.
