geography

Gandesbergen lies between the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park and the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park, roughly halfway between Bremen and Hanover .

history

Until 2010 the municipality belonged to the integrated municipality of Eystrup , which had its administrative seat in the municipality of Eystrup . On January 1, 2011 this merged with the joint municipality of Grafschaft Hoya to form the then enlarged joint municipality of Grafschaft Hoya. The original village center delimits the retention areas of the Weser and is supplemented by the new housing estates built after the Second World War near the Hanover-Bremen railway line.

Gandesbergen is connected to the western bank of the Weser and thus the neighboring municipality of Schweringen via the last Weser ferry in the entire Middle Weser area .
