Marklohe is a municipality and at the same time the administrative seat of the municipality of Marklohe in the district of Nienburg / Weser in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location
The community of Marklohe is 5 km away from Nienburg on the opposite side of the Weser and roughly in the middle between Verden (Aller) and Minden . Marklohe is the administrative seat of the joint municipality of Marklohe , with the municipalities of Balge , Marklohe and Wietzen .

The municipality of Marklohe also includes the neighboring districts of Lemke and Wohlenhausen , as well as the district of Oyle , which is about 1.5 km away .

history
The place expanded its original name from Lohe zu Marklohe in 1931. There are assumptions that Marklohe was the central meeting place of the pre-Christian Old Saxons Marklo . However, this could not be clearly clarified.
On March 1, 1974, the communities Lemke, Oyle and Wohlenhausen were incorporated.

Culture and sights
theatre
There is an open-air theater in Marklohe, which is run by the amateur player association Heimatspiele Marklohe e. V. is run on a voluntary basis. A Low German play is performed there every summer.
The Heimatspiele are also active in winter. It is played in the restaurant Vier Jahreszeiten in Marklohe, the former Gasthaus Frank, and in the theater on the Hornwerk in Nienburg (Weser).
Buildings
The church of St. Clemens Romanus in Marklohe was built in the 12th century on the plan of a Greek cross. During an extension in 1860, parts of the facades were redesigned in the Romanesque style. It has well-preserved choir paintings from around 1500 and a carved altar.
Sports
With the sports club Marklohe 63 eV, the gymnastics and sports club Lemke from 1928 eV and the youth community Oyle eV from 1953 there are three sports clubs in the community of Marklohe.

The community is located directly on federal highway 214 , which leads from Nienburg / Weser to Sulingen , and on federal highway 6 from Nienburg to Bremen .
