Location of the municipality of Steimbke in the district of Nienburg / Weser | ||
Steimbke is a municipality in the Nienburg / Weser district in Lower Saxony .
geography
Steimbke is located about ten kilometers from the district town of Nienburg in a moor and heather landscape, with the Blindesee at the center. The "Steinbeeke" (High German: " Steinbach ") flows through Steimbke , from whose name, according to legend, the place name is derived.
The villages Steimbke, Wendenborstel , Glashof, Eckelshof, Lichtenhorst and Sonnenborstel make up the municipality of Steimbke. The Steimbke district is the eponymous part of the Steimbke municipality .
The communities of Heemsen , Rethem / Aller , Stöckse and Rodewald , the town of Neustadt am Rübenberge and the district town of Nienburg / Weser border the municipality of Steimbke .
history
Numerous urn finds prove that the area around Steimbke was already settled around 800–700 BC. In a document in 1175 a "Steinanebeki im Logne-Gau" was mentioned in a letter and in 1221 a "Hildebrandus de Stenbike" ( Hildebrand von Steimbke ) was mentioned in the Calenberg document book . However, it is unclear whether these sources are actually connected to today's Steimbke. Steimbke was first clearly mentioned in the document book of the St. Johannes monastery in Walsrode in 1310, when the brothers Hermann, Ritter and Heinrich, noblemen of Hodenberg, sold the villages of Steimbke and Glashof to the monastery in Walsrode.
The Brigitta union made a major contribution to the recent development of the village by starting its oil production in 1934. They built a factory housing estate with spacious sports facilities, a forest stadium with floodlights , an indoor and an outdoor pool .
In the meantime, the decline in oil production has resulted in the oil pumps, which used to be the landmark of Steimbke, have been dismantled. Steimbke has 2466 inhabitants (December 31, 2015).
Incorporations
On March 1, 1974, the communities Lichtenhorst, Sonnenborstel and Wendenborstel were incorporated.
religion
The Steimbker population is predominantly of the Protestant denomination. Accordingly, the Evangelical Lutheran Dionysius Church is located in the center of the village . This also includes the "House of Encounter", where meetings and events for young and old take place on a regular basis. The local congregation of the New Apostolic Church was closed due to the decline in membership in 2005, and its church on Sonnenborsteler Kirchweg became a residential building.
