history

In 987 Duddenhausen was mentioned for the first time in a document from the Bremen Archdiocese , which is, however, a forgery or copy from the 12th century. However, barrows from the Bronze Age suggest a much earlier settlement. Since two full courtyards and two half courtyards have always belonged to the Siebenmeierhof in Essen (near Asendorf), one can assume that Duddenhausen already existed when the Bücken Monastery was founded in 882. In 1260 there was the first reliable documentary mention in which Count Burchard von Wölpe left two Hufen land in Duddenhausen to the Bücken Monastery. In the 13th century a knightly family bore the name Duddenhausen. It is not certain whether they were based in Duddenhausen. In addition to Bücken Abbey, Bassum Abbey , Heiligenberg Monastery , the Counts of Wölpe , the Counts of Hoya and the noble families of Klencke and von Behr were also wealthy here. The Hoya County camp register, which was created in 1583, provides for the first time an insight into rural conditions. Information was given on farms, farm owners, the amount of taxes and the size of the arable land. At that time there were two full courtyards, two half courtyards, two Kötter and eight Brinkitzer in Duddenhausen . In the Thirty Years War 1618-1648, many farms were destroyed. In 1793 there were two full yards, two half yards, four Eggekötterhöfe, three Vollkötterhöfe, two Halbkötterhöfe, five large Brinkitzer and 14 small Brinkitzer. In 1840, only seven years after the introduction of the transfer laws of the Kingdom of Hanover , the Vollmeier Wendt bought himself free with 1,353 Reichstalers. The replacement in Duddenhausen was completed by the 1870s. In 1940 there were 50 farms in Duddenhausen. Single-family houses were only added after the Second World War. There has been a school in Duddenhausen since 1706. The school building, which is still preserved today, was built in 1878, and the teachers' house was added in 1894. From 1965 there were only grades 1–4 in the Duddenhausen School. In 1969 the school was closed and the school building was sold. Since then the students have been going to primary school in Bücken. Secondary schools are located in Hoya . From 1965 to 1974 Duddenhausen was a member of the Bücken integrated community. Since March 1, 1974, Duddenhausen is no longer an independent municipality. Since then it has been a district of the patch Bücken. Since then, Bücken has been part of the newly formed municipality of County Hoya .

Origin of the place name

The current place name developed from Dudenhusen . Dudo is an old Saxon male given name and means the elder . The ending -hausen in the place name and the location in the tribal duchy of Saxony indicate a settlement between the years 800 and 1000. The place names Dudensen , Doenhausen (near Eystrup ), Düdinghausen (near Steyerberg ) and Dudenhausen ( Barntrup ) have the same origin.

Economy and Infrastructure

Duddenhausen has been shaped by agriculture for centuries. The remaining family farms grow wheat, rye, oats, barley, corn, sugar beets and potatoes. Also of importance is the cultivation of asparagus and blueberries . The Geestring distillery has been in operation since around 1950. The milk produced in Duddenhausen is supplied by the Grafschaft Hoya e. G. processed in Asendorf (district of Diepholz) . Furthermore, there is an ecological wine trade, a veterinary practice with a stallion station , an Icelandic horse stud, a bicycle workshop, an architecture office and a construction business in Duddenhausen . Most of the residents are commuters to Hoya, Nienburg, Minden, Verden and Bremen.

traffic

The district road 136 leads through Duddenhausen. It runs from Hoyerhagen via Duddenhausen to Asendorf to federal road 6 . On school days, a bus from the Nienburg district transport company runs five times a day to Bücken and Hoya.

leisure

Schützenverein Duddenhausen from 1901 e. V .: The shooting club has over 100 members. Several marksmen take part in competitions. In the past, shooting was done in the open air or in the barn at the inn, but shooting has its home in the 1986 new shooting range on the sports field. The highlights are the annual shooting festival at the beginning of May, needle and cup shooting in summer, and prize double-headed and knobeln in winter.

Duddenhausen volunteer fire brigade: The volunteer fire brigade has existed since 1934 , emerging from a compulsory fire brigade formed in 1902 . The fire engines and later the first fire engine , which was procured in 1963, were in a shed near the former Neddermeyer restaurant. This shed was too small for today's vehicle that was newly purchased in 1982. Until the new fire station was built on the sports field in 1984, the new portable fire pump was parked at the Bartels farm. The old shed is now used by the volunteer fire brigade as a waste paper store. The fire brigade currently has 29 active members, several members of the age group and many supporting members. The offspring belong to the youth fire brigade in Bücken and the surrounding area, founded in 1990 .

Sports club Duddenhausen: In 1959 the village teacher at the time Otto Bach founded the sports club. Back then there was only one men's soccer team, today the sports club has a considerable number of soccer and handball teams. The fact that the sports club has more members (over 400) than the village has inhabitants is a sign of the attractiveness of the club. The sports club has twice won prizes from the DFB for its excellent youth work. For reasons of space and the lack of floodlights, training and games are not only held in Duddenhausen, but also on sports fields in Bücken and Hoya. Annual highlights are the traditional Whitsun bike tour as well as sports advertising or youth sports weeks. The sports club Duddenhausen has been the official partner club of the Bundesliga soccer club Werder Bremen since 2002 .

Village community center: All three Duddenhaus associations have their home here. The village community center is the social center of the village. Initially, there was only the sports center with changing rooms and a tool shed on the sports field. In 1984 the fire station was added on the east side and in 1986 the shooting range of the rifle club was added to the west side. All three clubs are now under one roof. In 1996 a hall was built. It is used by the Duddenhaus clubs for meetings and celebrations. It should not go unmentioned that everything was done by the members of the three clubs themselves. This also applies to the newly paved parking lot, the barbecue hut and the children's playground.

Others

The former Hofstelle 23 in Hannover Zoo

A two-column oak half-timbered house from 1669 stands today as “Meyer's Hof” in the Hanover Zoo and houses the Meyers Hof restaurant . It is the former house number 23.

Heigln : Heigln is a conditioning therapy method. Heinz Heigl , who lived in Duddenhausen from 1963 to 1987 , got to know the daily physical training of the Japanese while he was a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union, who thereby acquired the necessary morale and resilience for the tough camp life. In Duddenhausen he saw the farmers doing their hard work on the farm and the unsprung tractors, twisted with pain, and he brought them help. Heigln spread throughout Germany and neighboring countries.

From 1957 to 1963 the local researcher and pedagogue Otto Bach was a teacher at the elementary school in Duddenhausen. He was also the founder of the Duddenhausen sports club.

As in many small towns in the region, there are no street names in Duddenhausen. The house numbers seem to be randomly distributed. For example, there is confusion with parcel services and emergency services may have problems reaching their destination. When the landscape fire fund was introduced in the 18th century , the farms began to be numbered. You started in Barke and assigned the house numbers (roughly) one after the other from south to north. At that time you got to house number 31. Since then the house numbers have been assigned as they are built: a new house - a new house number.
